1 Terminology

• backup repository – synonym for store
• chunk repository – synonym for store
• chunk – some data, encrypted
• client chunk – data specific for a client, e.g., chunk encryption keys
• client key – encryption key for client chunk
• credential – a way to encrypt client key so it can be accessed; there can be any number of credentials, each stored in its own chunk
• store – where chunks are stored
